Commander M. Scott Sciretta

Commanding Officer, PCU JASON DUNHAM (DDG 109)

Commander Sciretta is the son of Michael and Joan Sciretta, is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Science in Administration of Justice and was commissioned as an Ensign in January 1992.  His first assignment was on USS JUNEAU (LPD 10) where he served as Auxiliaries Officer and Main Propulsion Assistant.  During his tour, JUNEAU deployed twice, in support of OPERATION RESTORE HOPE and OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH.  His next assignment was as Fire Control Officer on USS COWPENS (CG 63), where he completed KITTY HAWK Battle Group work-ups and a partial WESTPAC deployment.  He then transferred to the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California and earned a Masters of Science in Operations Research.

Upon completion of Department Head School, Commander Sciretta served as Operations Officer on USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68) and conducted deployed operations in both the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf.  His next assignment was as Operations Officer on USS VICKSBURG (CG 69).  During his tour, VICKSBURG served as the Air Defense Commander for JOHN F. KENNEDY Battle Group and conducted operations in support of OPERATION NOBLE EAGLE and deployed operations in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH.  He then transferred to Navy Personnel Command, where he served as Surface Placement, Surface Junior Officer Sea Coordinator and the Assistant Surface Captain Assignment Officer (PERS 41A).

Commander Sciretta assumed command of MCM CREW FEARLESS embarked on USS CHIEF (MCM 14) in June 2005.  In July 2006, CREW FEARLESS conducted the first Blue/Gold crew swap and was embarked on USS ARDENT (MCM 12) forward deployed to Mina Sulman, Bahrain from July thru November 2006 and again from February thru March 2007.  CREW FEARLESS earned the 2005 and 2006 Battle Efficiency Award and the 2005 Marjorie Sterrett Battleship Award.  In April 2007, he transferred to the NATO Joint Analysis Lessons Learned Center in Lisbon, Portugal for joint duty assignment and conducted joint analysis in Afghanistan in support of the NATO International Security Assistance Force mission.

Commander Sciretta’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (one gold star), Navy Commendation Medal (four gold stars), the Navy Achievement Medal (one gold star), and various campaign, expeditionary and unit awards.
